Serendipity

Well we’ve officially been here in Marathon for 2 weeks. Waiting on weather at first and now waiting on new batteries to be installed… our old one were not holding a charge and ‘bubbling’ which apparently is not a good thing.

It’s pretty quiet here. We have reconnected with Toni the owner of Our Florida Island where we stayed for 2 months last year at the beginning of Covid.

Every time I start to have whispers about what the heck we are doing the universe seems to always give me a sign that we are exactly where we are supposed to be.

The biggest sign we have gotten thus far happened a few days ago when we were walking to dinner… we noticed a small boat that was moving weirdly near the island we stayed on last year. At first we thought the boat was anchored… but then we saw the mooring ball it was supposed to be attached to and the boat was drifting away from the mooring ball. We quickly figured out this was one of Toni’s work boats and immediately called her to tell her the boat had broken loose of the mooring ball and was floating into the Gulf.

We stood there watching the boat drift further and further from land and felt totally helpless. Luckily Toni was able to scramble another boat to rescue the work boat. We watched it being rescued and towed to safety.

What’s really weird is that we must have walked by the moment the boat broke free. And what are the chances we knew who the boat belonged to and that we were able to save it? Crazy. Toni would have lost that boat into the Gulf Stream had we not been there at that exact moment.

Crazy crazy crazy.

Cheers from Marathon
